UPSC CDS 2013 (I) Combined Defence Services Examination 2013


The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2013 on 17th February, 2013 for admission to the following courses:
Indian Military Academy, Dehradun 136th course commencing in January, 2014 (including 32 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ certificate (Army Wing) holders) – 250 vacancies
Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala Course Commencing in January, 2014 Executive (Hydro/ General Service) (including 06 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C certificate holders (Naval Wing) – 40 vacancies
Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course commencing in January, 2014 (No-195th F(P) course-32), Officers Training Academy, Chennai, 99th SSC Course (for Men) commencing in April, 2014 – 175 vacancies
Officers Training Academy, Chennai 13th SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in April, 2014 - 12 vacancies
Since women candidates are eligible for OTA only, they should give OTA as their first and only preference
If a male candidate is competing for Short Service Commission (Army) only, he should indicate OTA as the one and only choice
However, a male candidate competing for short service commission course at OTA as well as permanent commission course at IMA, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy should indicate OTA as his last preference, otherwise OTA will be deemed to be the last choice even if it is given a higher preference by the candidate
IMA and Officers’ Training Academy: Degree of a recognised university or equivalent
Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering
Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognised university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering
Graduates with first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are to submit proof of graduation provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB interview at the SSB
Candidates who are studying in the final year degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply but they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination to reach the Army HQ/Rtg CDSE Entry, West Block III, RK Puram, New Delhi-110066 in case of IMA/SSC first choice candidates and Naval HQ DMPR, (OI & R Section) Room No 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhawan, New Delhi-110011 in case of Navy first choice candidates and PO3(A)/Air Headquarters, ‘J’ Block, Room No. 17, Opp Vayu Bhawan, Motilal Nehru Marg, New Delhi-110011 in case of Air Force first choice candidates by the following dates failing which their candidature will stand cancelled
For admission to IMA, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy on or before 13th November, 2013
For admission to Officer’s Training Academy, Chennai on or before 01st February, 2014
Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees would also be eligible for admission to the examination
In exceptional cases the commission may treat a candidate, who does not possess any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule as educationally qualified provided that he/she possesses qualifications, the standard of which in the opinion of the commission, justifies his/her admission to the examination
Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2013
Fee: Candidates (excepting female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs 200/- (Rs two hundred only) either by depositing the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card
All Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST are not required to pay any fee
No fee exemption is, however, available to OBC candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee
The applicants are advised to submit only single application, however if due to any unavoidable situation, if he/she submits another/multiple applications, then he/she must ensure that application with the higher RID (Registration ID) is complete in all respects like applicants’ details, examination centre, photograph, signature, fee etc
The applicants who are submitting multiple applications should note that only the applications with higher RID (Registration ID) shall be entertained by the commission and fee paid against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID
All candidates whether already in Govt service including candidates serving in the Armed Forces, Govt owned industrial undertakings or other similar organizations or in private employment should submit their applications online direct to the commission
Persons already in Govt service, whether in permanent or temporary capacity or as work charged employees other than casual or daily rated employees or those serving under the Public Enterprises are, however, required to inform their Head of Office/Dept in writing that they have applied for the examination

TISS announces admission to the 2013-15 batch for the following full time (regular) post graduate degree programmes M.A., M.Sc, MHA, MPH offered from Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses
TISS offers 39 master’s degree programmes from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses for the 2013-2015 batch
Candidates can apply for a minimum of one and a maximum of five programmes across the four TISS campuses
However, they can opt for only a maximum of three programmes at TISS Mumbai

A bachelor’s degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognised university, in any discipline; or
Candidates who will complete all the requirements of their final year bachelor’s degree examinations by 09th June, 2013, Saturday are also eligible to apply to all the programmes (except the four programmes offered by the School of Health Systems Studies) provided they have successfully completed their first and second years, if the degree course is of 3 years; and the first, second and third years, if the degree course is of 4 years

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2013-14



AICTE has launched the National level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE since 2012-13.
AICTE has now decided to conduct CMAT twice a year.
The notification is issued to announce the schedule for conducting first Test of Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for admission to academic year 2013-14.
The students will be eligible to appear in both the exam and best of the two scores will be used for admission to 2013-14.

Eligibility
The candidates who have graduated from a recognized University in any discipline or Final Year students can also apply.
Admission Process
The detailed merit list will be provided to the respective State Governments for allotting the students through central counseling In case there is no central counseling Scores awarded will be used for admission in the AICTE approved Institutes or University Departments.

How to Apply:
Registration Process
The registration fee for CMAT exam is Rs. 1200 for the General and OBC category candidates and Rs. 600 for the SC/ST/PD candidates along with the Bank charges.
The candidates have to give three cities in order of preference. According to AICTE, “Allotment will be based on first come first served. Actual allotment however will be subject to availability of the slots in a particular city.”

Important Dates
The Registration window opens on Friday, August 3, 2012.
The last date for Online Registration is
Sunday, September 2, 2012.
The print of the Hall Tickets would be available from Saturday, September 15, 2012.
The computer based CMAT exam will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 to Monday, October 1, 2012.
The result will be declared on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
The Score Cards can be printed from Wednesday, October 17, 2012 to Saturday, November 17, 2012.

Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) – 2013, JEE (Advanced) -2013

All the candidates aspiring to take admission in the undergraduate programmes at IITs and ISM Dhanbad, for the year 2013 will have to appear in the Paper-1 of JEE (Main) - 2013, which will be conducted by JEE Apex Board during the month of April, 2013 (both online and offline). After the declaration of the scores of JEE (Main) - 2013, the top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories) are required to register online at http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in to appear for the JEE (Advanced) – 2013. A fee of Rs.1800/- (Rs.900/- for SC, ST, PD and no fee for all female candidates) has to be deposited between 8th and 13th May, 2013  in any branch of State Bank of India having Core Banking Services.

The last date to register for JEE (Advanced) - 2013 (along with the required information and applicable fee) is 13th May, 2013.

PAPER – 1:
9.00 – 12.00 Hours (IST)
PAPER – 2:
14.00 – 17.00 Hours (IST)


Each paper which will be of objective type, will have separate sections in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. It will test the comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of the candidates. For further details, please visit the JEE (Advanced) – 2013.

Scores of JEE (Main) - 2013 will be declared by 7 May, 2013. Top 1,50,000 candidates qualified in Paper - I  (including all the categories) are eligible to register for JEE (Advanced) - 2013. To write JEE (Advanced) - 2013 all eligible candidates should register through online at [http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in/] during 8 May to 13 May, 2013. 

After online registration, candidates must pay the examination fee as applicable through challan (generated during registration process) of all SBI branches having core banking solution (CBS) on or before 13 May, 2013. 

The examination fee for GE and OBC (NCL) male candidates is Rs.1800/. The fee for SC, ST, PD male candidates is Rs. 900/. There is no fee for female candidates of all categories. Registration is complete only after the payment.
