IIMs (IIMs) Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015

The Indian Institutes of Management will conduct Common Admission Test 2015 (CAT 2015) during a 2-day testing window (4 sessions) on 29th November, 2015. CAT 2015 will be conducted by IIMs as a pre-requisite for admission to various management programmes of IIMs. These programmes are:

Separate advertisements will appear for the Fellow Programme of each institute as well as PGP-ABM of IIM Ahmedabad, PGPEM and PGPPM of IIM Bangalore, PGP-Mumbai, PGP-UAE & EPGP of IIM Indore, EPGPM of IIM Kashipur, PGP-ABM & PGPSM of IIM Lucknow, PGPWE of IIM Raipur, PGDHRM of IIM Ranchi, PGPEX of RGIIM Shillong, PGPBM & PGPHRM of IIM Tlruchirappalli. Before a prospective candidate makes a decision to appear for CAT 2015, he, she must visit the websites and, or read programme. I advertisements of the concerned IIM and specific programmes to ensure which programmes they want to apply for, eligibility requirements and admission processes.
List of non-IIM member institutions that have registered to avail the CAT 2015 scores is provided at Website. CAT 2015 Scores are restricted only for admission to IIMs and non-IIM member institutions. IIMs have no role in the selection process of Non-IIM Institutions.
A candidate can appear for CAT 2015 only once during the 2-day testing window (4 sessions).

ELIGIBILITY:
A candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may also be referred to as Persons With Disability (PWD) categories), awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The percentage of marks obtained by a candidate in the bachelor's degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university, institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case a candidate is awarded grades, CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades, CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university, institution from where he, she has obtained the bachelor's degree. In case the university, institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree, equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he, she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2016 from the Principal, Registrar of his, her College, Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2016) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor's degree, equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website. Applicants should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs.

Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.

As per Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates. For Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the "non-creamy" layer (NC-OBC) 27% of the seats are reserved.
For an updated central list of state-wise OBCs eligible for availing the benefit of reservation and information in respect of the creamy layer visit the website. In case of NC-OBC category, the castes included in Central List (available at Website) of NC-OBC by the National Commission of Backward Classes, Government of India as on the last day of registration will be used. Any subsequent changes will not be effective for CAT 2015. As per the provision under section 39 of the PWD Act, 1995, 3% of the seats are reserved for Person with Disability (PWD), Differently Abled (DA) candidates. The three categories of disability are: a) low-vision, blindness, b) hearing impairment, and c) locomotor disability, cerebral palsy. This provision is applicable if a candidate suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the extent of not less than 40%, as certified by a medical authority as prescribed and explained in the said Act.
The candidates belonging to categories for which seats are reserved need to note and read the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavor of IIMs that the candidates belonging to SC, ST, PWD. (DA), Non-Creamy OBC categories join the programme in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance in the admission process. The candidates should read carefully the description of admission process followed by each IIM on their respective websites. No change in the category will be entertained after registration; hence, the applicants are advised to pay attention while registering.
HOW TO APPLY:

The registration fee is Rs. 1600/- for General and NC-OBC candidates and Rs. 800/- for SC, ST, PWD (DA) candidates, which is to be paid online at the time of registration. The details will be available on Website.
Please note that a candidate needs to pay registration fee only once irrespective of the number of institutes he, she is applying for. NC-OBC, SC, ST and PWD (DA) candidates must upload a copy of their NCOBC, SC, ST, PWD (DA) certificates at the time of registration. Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.


The registration window opens on 6th August, 2015 and will close on 20th September, 2015. The details about the registration process will be available on CAT 2015 website.
At the time of registration, a candidate has to select three test cities as per her, his preference from the drop down menu. A candidate will be allotted a test site in one among the three of her, his preferred test cities in any one of the four sessions after the last date of registration. The candidates can download their admit cards from 15th Oct, 2015 till their exam date.

There are 99 test cities. The details about the test sites spread across 99 test cities will be available on Website from 16th Oct, 2015 and the name of the test site will be indicated in her, his Admit Card. IIMs reserve the right to change or cancel any test site and,or change the test window time and dates at their own discretion.

A candidate's CAT 2015 score card will be made available at the website and individual information will not be sent The CAT results will be declared during 2nd week of January 2016. CAT 2015 score will remain valid till December 31, 2016. The CAT 2015 candidates’ scores will be made available till December 31, 2016. Subsequent to that date no queries related to issuance of CAT 2015 score cards will be entertained.

Please note that each IIM shortlists candidates for the second stage of selection which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT 2015 examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may use previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of the candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic rating cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. For more information you may refer to the admissions policies of IIM's from their respective websites.

Instances of providing incorrect information and, or process violation by a candidate detected at any stage of the selection process will lead to disqualification of the candidate from the selection process and he, she will not be allowed to appear in CAT in future. If such instances go undetected during the current selection process but are detected subsequently, such disqualification will take place with retrospective effect. Candidates must retain this advertisement for future reference. Any dispute concerning CAT 2015 would be subject to jurisdiction of the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of City of Indore only.
